Basement Buddies is our popular Before and After School club. The club is Govenor led now but was a community funded organisation when it was set up in September 2001. This was done with help from 'The New Opportunities Fund' to increase the availability and choice of childcare in the area. The club provides before school and after school care for pupils at Morley Victoria Primary School.
The club's aim is to provide a high quality, safe and caring environment that provides opportunities for stimulating play, for children aged 3 to 11, before and after school and on training days. The club will achieve this aim through:
- Giving all children the opportunity to express their feelings confidently so that they can fully enjoy themselves.
- Providing activities that the children will enjoy - including enhancing the school curriculum where appropriate - without the club being an extension of school.
- Securing a team of high quality staff, all of whom are qualified to Level 2 or 3 in Play work.
- By reviewing and encouraging new ideas and new ways to improve our service to the children.
You can see some of the activities that we do by following us on Twitter - click here for a link to our Twitter Page.
In our club we try to create an atmosphere of caring and respect for each other.
We aim to provide secure, safe, comfortable and pleasant surroundings.
We help children to recognise, accept, respect and celebrate their differences.
We encourage children to have patience with each other to learn self-control and to develop a responsibility for their actions.
The club sets high standards and has high expectations in terms of behaviour and we endeavour to praise and encourage good examples of this.
These expectations are continually re-enforced by staff inside and out.
All children attending the club must have completed registration and consent forms. Some of this information is a legal requirement under the Children’s Act while the remainder ensures the staff can care safely for your child e.g. information about allergies.
