Writing For Pleasure

“I love it when we get chance to write our own story.”  MV Pupil

“Giving the children chance to independently write about a subject of their choice shows you just how far they have come” MV Staff

Our aim at Morley Victoria is to produce writers that enjoy writing for pleasure and can do this with independence using the knowledge and skills they have been taught as part of the writing process.  Being able to craft a letter, poem, diary entry or even a story on a subject of their choice is what we are aiming for and love to see children using their knowledge as a writer in tasks and challenges they have set themselves outside of the classroom.

We have also provided some support on our website to encourage writing for pleasure at home for all ages.  Often writing together at home to build a piece of writing is the most powerful and has the greatest impact.  Writing for pleasure is, of course, celebrated at Morley Victoria as part of celebration assemblies, class awards and discussions and show-casing work on Twitter.

Many of our children take part in Young Writers competitions and a large number of them have had their short stories and poems published - this is so lovely to have multiple published authors in school!
