Medicines in School

Wherever possible we encourage the administration of medicine to be done at home.  There are however some situations, usually where prescriptions have been written by the doctor, where we will need to administer medicines in school.  For this to happen we require a completed Medical Administration Form with clear instructions and the medicine given to us in a clear, named plastic bag. If the medicine needs to be brought to school and taken home at the end of the day, it is the responsibility of the parent / carer to remind the member of school staff who is on the door or the gate to bring it out to them. Medicines will only be given to the responsible adult.

Some children require inhalers, Epipens, creams and other regular, important medication in school. We will ask you to complete a new form on an annual basis to update our records but it is vitally important that you keep us up to date with any changes that we need to know about. It is the responsibility of the parents / carers to ensure that we receive updates; that medical items remain 'in date' and that these are checked regularly.

The school office will be able to offer help and advice if required so please don't hesitate to contact them.
