We work extremely hard both in and out of the classroom and always look forward to our break times. We have a mixture of break times throughout each day. Class teachers take their classes out most days to have an active break which involves getting physically active, hot and sweaty. This helps us to refocus and concentrate on our learning in the next lesson. We also try aim to be physically active in the classroom once a day too.
The majority of our break times are free times where the children can play with each other and develop those all important social skills. The playgrounds are planned and colour zoned so that the children are as active as possible and can participate in a range of activities that they can enjoy. The children help to organise and co-ordinate the playgrounds – the school council ensuring that every pupils’ voice is heard. Playtime organisation is always on the agenda and we are always listening and making changes so that playtimes can be the best they possibly can be.
Some of the activities available at break times are:
- Ball games – football, dodgeball
- Running using the track
- Using the playground markings
- The Climbing wall – which has recently been refurbished thanks to a financial donation from Morley Town Council
- Trim Trail
- Quiet area – reading, stickers, lego, reading, chalks
- Adult led activities
- Global Games cards are available for the children to help themselves to
We don’t mind if the children wish to bring a small toy to play with at break times but we request that these are neither valuable or precious as sadly these toys can get lost or broken at times.
The PFA have been a great help – they have funded lots of equipment and markings. A huge thank you for this.
